For my final project i want to take my favorite movie the boondock saints and take each character and tell what their archetype is and why. To do this i would create a powerpoint that would have short video clips displaying each archetype.

Master of two worlds is once the hero crosses the threshold, he comes to realize that there really is nothing separating his home from the new world. For me and my experience with this would have to be the time when i moved from maryland to gettysburg at the age of 11. Before i moved i thought it would have been a really hard adjustment going to a totally different school and meeting all new people. But really all the kids were pretty much the same as my friends down there. And most of the friends that i made whenever i first came to PA are still my really good friends now.

The song that i think can relate to this is the song to the threshold by hatebreed, its a song about getting pushed to the edge and overcoming your fears and you will realize that once you cross the threshold it usually ends up being better than it was on the other side of it. It actually one of my favorite songs and whenever they perform that song live Jamie Jasta uses alot of emotion cause the song comes from personal experinces that he had in his life, like most hatebreed songs do.

The rescue from without is on the return journey and the character is feeling a sense of helplessness. Instead of a movie i thought of the Vietnam War whenever the soldiers where returning home. They thought that they were going to get a warm welcome from fellow Americans but then it turns out that they see them as the problem and cause for the war. Soldiers would get yelled at walking down the street and even spit at. So for them this had to make them have a feeling of helplessness, whenever they just get back from war and cant wait to be home. Then there own neighbors don’t like them cause of what they have done. I cant really think of a time in my life whenever this would be the case for me personally.

The poem/song that came to mind for me is a song by Hatebreed entitled A Call for Blood. This song is about being a survior of rape or child abuse and the urge to get your revenge. The song talks about how you need to go from being helpless to becoming enpowered  by seeking your revenge to the people who have done this to you. The outside force that would drive these people would be the support of their friends and family to continue living their lives.

A movie that can correlate with the theme of the magic flight is Joe Dirt. In this movie Joe Dirt is on a quest to find his parents, who left him at the Grand Canyon as a child. So Joe Dirt gets on the radio and recounts his life story and gains a group of followers and supporters. At one point Joe Dirt decides to give up the search and go live with Brandy, but Brandy really knows where Joe’s parents are. She doesn’t want to tell him about his parents because of what bad people they really are.
In this movie the protector of Joe Dirt would have been brandy, she was protecting him from who his parents really were. But at the same time angered Joe by writing the letter and not telling him about his parents. Because she wanted to tell him in person but really never had a chance to tell him in person.
